Southsea
Southsea is a seaside resort in the southern 'residential' corner of Portsmouth. It has two expansive piers, a traditional funfair and miles of pebble beaches leading down to a clean sea.
A scenic walkway (the Millennium Walk) extends from the seafront along to Old Portsmouth, with beautiful blue street lamps to mark the route.
Attractions in and around Southsea include:
• quirky shops and chic cafés and a lively nightscene
• Spinnaker Tower, Gunwharf Quays
• historic naval dockyards and museums
• HMS Victory, HMS Warrior and The Mary Rose
• Southsea Castle
• Spitbank Fort - the only sea fort open to the public
Southsea is ideally accessible: The M3 and M27 motorways are nearby. The train to London Waterloo takes about two hours.
